Alex G has announced a new show at Glasgow&#39;s legendary Barrowland Ballroom later this year. Pennsylvania&#39;s preeminent master of melodic nostalgia and indie rock experimentation Alex Giannascoli and his long-serving band of brothers return to the city on Mon 17 Nov for their biggest Scottish live show to date, swiftly following the announcement of long-awaited new album Headlights, due for release on 18 July. <a href="undefined">In the meantime, Alex has previewed the first track from his new album</a>, entitled Afterlife. ALEX G TO PLAY BARRAS IN NOVEMBER

Big Nights @ La Belle is a new month-long concert series taking place during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer, only at La Belle Angele. This exciting new collaboration between the popular Old Town venue and summer events series Big Nights Out will host a cavalcade of extraordinary performers across the whole month of August, from familiar names and party starters to your new favourite artist. Beloved Libertines co-founder and esteemed solo artist Peter Docherty will perform across two nights in support of his much-anticipated new album Felt Better Alive (12+13 Aug); Kristen Hersh brings her popular 90s alt-rock combo Throwing Muses back to the capital with their first album in five years, Moonlight Concessions (20 Aug); Multi- Grammy-Award-Winning US Blues artist Fantastic Negrito brings his explosive live show to the city on 19 Aug, while revered MC and master of the bass-baritone flow, Chali 2na (Jurassic 5, Ozomatli) brings his solo tour to Edinburgh for a hip-hop masterclass on 11 Aug. Beach Bunny announce new headline show in Glasgow

Big Nights Out has announced a new wave of summer concerts at Queen’s Park Arena as part of its 2025 programming across two of Glasgow’s iconic outdoor bandstands. Over several nights in May, June and July, Glasgow will play host to a packed line up of world-renowned artists and local legends for a run of very special live outdoor performances at Kelvingrove Bandstand and Queen’s Park Arena this year.Today, new performances have been added to the line up at Queen’s Park Arena, including Leeds post-punk faves Yard Act (18 July), punk-jazz experimenter Geordie Greep (black midi - 19 July) and rambunctious London indie-punk collective Warmduscher (5 July). Michelle Zauner&#39;s cinematic indie rock project Japanese Breakfast has today released their fourth album, For Melancholy Brunettes (&amp; Sad Women) via Dead Oceans. The album&#39;s release preceds the band&#39;s return to Scotland with a summer headline show at Glasgow&#39;s iconic Barrowland Ballroom set for Mon 30 June. This will be their biggest Scotland show to date, charting an impressive growth in scope and stature over the course of four well-received full length albums since. Majke Voss is a composer, singer and songwriter formerly known as Broken Twin. Following her critically acclaimed debut album May, her forthcoming album is written and produced by herself, featuring an array of prominent musicians from the Copenhagen music scene such as Johan Wieth (Iceage) and Nils Gröndahl (Under Byen). Built from piano, bass, beats and distorted strings and centred around her soulful voice, the coming album - this time set to be released in her own name - is a development and expansion of her distinct songwriting and minimalistic, cinematic sound, widely praised in publications such as Rolling Stone, Vogue, The Guardian and The Sunday Times. NPR called it a “Breathtaking debut”, while NME dubbed her “the most arrestingly beautiful songwriter we’ve heard in aeons”.

Lili Refrain is a multi-instrumentalist, composer andperformer based in Rome, Italy. Her solo project wasfounded in 2007. She uses electric guitar, vocals,percussions and synthesizers, overlapping them in realtime through loop stations. The atmosphere she evokescover a wide swath of sonic territory that combinesminimalist, folk, psychedelic, blues, metal, lyrical operatextures, without using any computer or pre-recordedtracks. Her songs are embedded with ritualistic energiesand her live performances are a visceral and catharticexperience that lead the listener through an unforgettablemesmerising act.

Taupe’s concoction of free(math)avant(skronk) shifts between sour sonics, effervescent improvisations and sludgy doom-laden riffs. This Glasgow-based trio wield an almost spooky telekinesis, veering into taut metronomic precision from turbulent &amp; unwieldy chaos. Ever-informed by a DIY ethos, there is a wonky charm to Taupe’s music, bridging the nostalgic no-wave disorder of DNA or James Chance with the squeaky-clean precision of contemporary groups like goat (jp) or Horse Lords. Their performances rumble and pulse with a fun anarchic spirit which takes any pretensions or self-seriousness out to the woodshed. It’s no wonder that their exhilarating sense of discovery has won them support from the likes of BBC 6 Music’s Freak Zone and BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction and Freeness, as well as appearances at festivals including REWIRE in the Hague and support slots with acts such as Deerhoof, Richard Dawson &amp; Circle and Melt Banana.Fizzing with ideas, Taupe prize surprise over all else.

The Frank and Walters’ Paul Linehan is one of Ireland’s most talented and inspirational singer / songwriters.For nearly 30 years Paul has penned and performed hundreds of songs with The Frank and Walters which have captured the hearts and minds of generations. The band originally became world famous on the ‘90s indie scene and have produced seven studio albums. Paul has lost none of his talent or motivation to produce fantastically crafted and catchy indie songs and continues to write new material to this day. The band also achieved a life-long ambition when they played with a full orchestra at the Cork Opera House. Recently the band captured a whole new audience when their ‘90’s hit single ‘After All’ featured on the cult comedy show ‘The Young Offenders’ (the infamous ‘Billy Murphy’ bus hijack scene). And as well as being able to recall stories of Radiohead and Suede supporting the Frank and Walters on early tours, their recent single featured Peaky Blinders Cillian Murphy doing a voiceover on the track ‘Stages’.

Deaf Club continues their scathing indictment of society with their second full-length album, being released on Southern Lord and Three One G: We Demand a Permanent State of Happiness. Fast wit and faster blast beats are mainstays of the band, but there is also a sense of growth. This is their strongest songwriting yet, incorporating more hooks and good old-fashioned moments to mosh while staying as weird as ever. Raygun guitar riffs and unexplainable sounds abound. Justin Pearson, Brian Amalfitano, Scott Osment, and Jason Klein excel at inciting emotion in the face of apathy and voicing disgust amid a world rapidly burning.We Demand a Permanent State of Happiness was recorded and edited by Alex Estrada at Pale Moon Ranch and Luke Henshaw at Penguin Studio.
