Alex G has announced a new show at Glasgow&#39;s legendary Barrowland Ballroom later this year. Pennsylvania&#39;s preeminent master of melodic nostalgia and indie rock experimentation Alex Giannascoli and his long-serving band of brothers return to the city on Mon 17 Nov for their biggest Scottish live show to date, swiftly following the announcement of long-awaited new album Headlights, due for release on 18 July. <a href="undefined">In the meantime, Alex has previewed the first track from his new album</a>, entitled Afterlife. Big Nights @ La Belle is a new month-long concert series taking place during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer, only at La Belle Angele. This exciting new collaboration between the popular Old Town venue and summer events series Big Nights Out will host a cavalcade of extraordinary performers across the whole month of August, from familiar names and party starters to your new favourite artist. Beloved Libertines co-founder and esteemed solo artist Peter Docherty will perform across two nights in support of his much-anticipated new album Felt Better Alive (12+13 Aug); Kristen Hersh brings her popular 90s alt-rock combo Throwing Muses back to the capital with their first album in five years, Moonlight Concessions (20 Aug); Multi- Grammy-Award-Winning US Blues artist Fantastic Negrito brings his explosive live show to the city on 19 Aug, while revered MC and master of the bass-baritone flow, Chali 2na (Jurassic 5, Ozomatli) brings his solo tour to Edinburgh for a hip-hop masterclass on 11 Aug. Beach Bunny announce new headline show in Glasgow

Big Nights Out has announced a new wave of summer concerts at Queen’s Park Arena as part of its 2025 programming across two of Glasgow’s iconic outdoor bandstands. Over several nights in May, June and July, Glasgow will play host to a packed line up of world-renowned artists and local legends for a run of very special live outdoor performances at Kelvingrove Bandstand and Queen’s Park Arena this year.Today, new performances have been added to the line up at Queen’s Park Arena, including Leeds post-punk faves Yard Act (18 July), punk-jazz experimenter Geordie Greep (black midi - 19 July) and rambunctious London indie-punk collective Warmduscher (5 July). New Japanese Breakfast album out now. Barras show set for June.

First formed in 1974, The Stranglers no bullsh*t attitude was embraced by&nbsp;the punk movement of the late 70s.&nbsp; But their musicianship and menace&nbsp;transcended the genre, creating a sound unique to themselves.&nbsp; With their&nbsp;first three albums (Rattus Norvegicus, No More Heroes and Black and White)&nbsp;being released within an astonishing 13 months of each other, scoring hit&nbsp;singles with ‘Peaches’, ‘No More Heroes’ and ‘Walk On By’. Further success&nbsp;was to follow with ‘Always The Sun’, ‘Strange Little Girl’ and the&nbsp;mercurial ‘Golden Brown’, amongst many others, earning the group 24 top 40&nbsp;singles in a career (so far) spanning six different decades. The Stranglers’ 2021 album Dark Matters (peaked at #4 in the UK album&nbsp;chart) became the band’s highest charting album since Feline in 1983. This&nbsp;was the last album to feature the mercurial, unmistakable keyboard playing&nbsp;of the late Dave Greenfield, who passed away in 2020 due to Co-Vid related&nbsp;illness. In 2022, the elder-statesman, drummer and founder of the band Jet&nbsp;Black passed away. Testament to the band’s influence on rock music,&nbsp;tributes to Jet poured in from the likes of Duff McKagan (Guns n’ Roses),&nbsp;Ricky Warwick (Thin Lizzy) and Lol Tolhurst (The Cure). Fans can expect to enjoy the charming interplay of bass playing icon&nbsp;Jean-Jacques Burnel and longest serving guitarist/vocalist Baz Warne&nbsp;co-fronting the band as they navigate their way through a varied set of six&nbsp;decades worth of hits, hidden gems and fan favourites. Cemented ever since&nbsp;the busy ‘Fifty Years In Black’ year, JJ and Baz are joined by mainstay Jim&nbsp;Macaulay on drums and newest member, the harmonically dexterous Toby&nbsp;Hounsham on keyboards.

Aberdeenshire folksinger, Iona Fyfe, has become one of Scotland’s finest singers, rooted deeply in the singing traditions of the North East of Scotland. In 2021, she became the first singer to win the coveted title of Musician of the Year at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards. A two-time winner of Scots Singer of the Year, Iona has performed across Europe, the US, Canada and Australia. Iona is a fierce advocate for the official recognition of the Scots Language, leading a successful campaign to pressure Spotify into recognising Scots and add it to its list of languages. Honoured at the Scots Language Awards with the title of Speaker of the Year in 2021, Iona performs both folk and pop songs in the Scots language, remaining true to her rooting in tradition. Iona has featured in several publications including The Sunday Post, The Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Times. She won the title of Scots Singer of the Year at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards in 2018 and was described as “one of the best Scotland has to offer.”
