Alex G has announced a new show at Glasgow&#39;s legendary Barrowland Ballroom later this year. Pennsylvania&#39;s preeminent master of melodic nostalgia and indie rock experimentation Alex Giannascoli and his long-serving band of brothers return to the city on Mon 17 Nov for their biggest Scottish live show to date, swiftly following the announcement of long-awaited new album Headlights, due for release on 18 July. <a href="undefined">In the meantime, Alex has previewed the first track from his new album</a>, entitled Afterlife. Big Nights @ La Belle is a new month-long concert series taking place during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer, only at La Belle Angele. This exciting new collaboration between the popular Old Town venue and summer events series Big Nights Out will host a cavalcade of extraordinary performers across the whole month of August, from familiar names and party starters to your new favourite artist. Beloved Libertines co-founder and esteemed solo artist Peter Docherty will perform across two nights in support of his much-anticipated new album Felt Better Alive (12+13 Aug); Kristen Hersh brings her popular 90s alt-rock combo Throwing Muses back to the capital with their first album in five years, Moonlight Concessions (20 Aug); Multi- Grammy-Award-Winning US Blues artist Fantastic Negrito brings his explosive live show to the city on 19 Aug, while revered MC and master of the bass-baritone flow, Chali 2na (Jurassic 5, Ozomatli) brings his solo tour to Edinburgh for a hip-hop masterclass on 11 Aug. Beach Bunny announce new headline show in Glasgow

Big Nights Out has announced a new wave of summer concerts at Queen’s Park Arena as part of its 2025 programming across two of Glasgow’s iconic outdoor bandstands. Over several nights in May, June and July, Glasgow will play host to a packed line up of world-renowned artists and local legends for a run of very special live outdoor performances at Kelvingrove Bandstand and Queen’s Park Arena this year.Today, new performances have been added to the line up at Queen’s Park Arena, including Leeds post-punk faves Yard Act (18 July), punk-jazz experimenter Geordie Greep (black midi - 19 July) and rambunctious London indie-punk collective Warmduscher (5 July). SupaLung a fi recracker of a four-piece that’s quickly becoming essential listening—and witnessing—for fans of live alt-indie rock with depth, joy and groove. Fronted by the hauntingly earnest vocals and sharp songwriting of Sam Brookes, and co-piloted by multi-instrumentalist and producer Pete Josef, SupaLung is not just a band—it’s a moment, a feeling, a sonic hug with the heart of a drum that kicks. On stage the songs burst to life with the craft of some of Bristol's fi nest musicians Rhydian Evetts on keys, Samuel Fox on Bass &amp; lap steel and Simon Small on drums. Together, they form a tight, dynamic unit that crafts lush, four-part harmonies with a therapeutic touch, grooves that ripple through the crowd like musical aftershocks. A SupaLung gig is less a performance, more a communal exhale—heartfelt, soulful, and irresistibly danceable. A chance meeting in Biblos, Bristol’s legendary wrap joint. Pete had heard whispers—some demos Sam was tracking with a mutual friend—and introduced himself. The musical chemistry was instant, but it would take years, and some hard days labouring fi rst (literally—Sam helped Pete construct a home studio), before the creative fuse truly lit. When it did, the result was a body of songs as bold as they were beautiful. Armed with a batch of vibrant demos from Brookes, Josef saw the potential for a debut record that wouldn't just turn heads—it would leave hearts spinning. And thus, SupaLung was born—a name paying homage to late-'60s rock powerhouse Terry Reid, affectionately known as “Superlungs.” Now, with momentum building and another full-length release slated for 2026, Sam and Pete are deep in the studio trenches, crafting the next chapter in what promises to be one of the UK’s most compelling musical journeys.

Norrie Tago MacIver is a singer songwriter from the Isle of Lewis. Until November 2025 he was the lead singer of Skipinnish, one of Scotland’s most popular and dynamic folk bands, for nine years. Known for his powerful voice, melodic flair, and deep roots in Gaelic tradition, Norrie has brought his signature style to sold-out venues across the UK, including the Barrowlands and Edinburgh Castle, and his last gig with the band was the OVO Hydro in Glasgow. Since joining Skipinnish in 2016, he has released two critically acclaimed albums with the band: The Seventh Wave and Steer by the Stars. In December 2011, Norrie was voted Gaelic Singer of the Year at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards, and in 2021 he won the Online Performance of the year. He has two solo albums under his name and also released an album of new songs with the Glasgow Barons called Songs of Govan Old. Originally from Carloway on the Isle of Lewis and now based in Fife, Norrie is a graduate of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Over the course of his career, he has toured extensively across North America, Europe, Australia, and South Korea, earning a reputation as one of Gaelic music’s most versatile and accomplished voices. “The Gaelic cross-over voice of his generation.
