Alex G has announced a new show at Glasgow&#39;s legendary Barrowland Ballroom later this year. Pennsylvania&#39;s preeminent master of melodic nostalgia and indie rock experimentation Alex Giannascoli and his long-serving band of brothers return to the city on Mon 17 Nov for their biggest Scottish live show to date, swiftly following the announcement of long-awaited new album Headlights, due for release on 18 July. <a href="undefined">In the meantime, Alex has previewed the first track from his new album</a>, entitled Afterlife. Big Nights @ La Belle is a new month-long concert series taking place during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer, only at La Belle Angele. This exciting new collaboration between the popular Old Town venue and summer events series Big Nights Out will host a cavalcade of extraordinary performers across the whole month of August, from familiar names and party starters to your new favourite artist. Beloved Libertines co-founder and esteemed solo artist Peter Docherty will perform across two nights in support of his much-anticipated new album Felt Better Alive (12+13 Aug); Kristen Hersh brings her popular 90s alt-rock combo Throwing Muses back to the capital with their first album in five years, Moonlight Concessions (20 Aug); Multi- Grammy-Award-Winning US Blues artist Fantastic Negrito brings his explosive live show to the city on 19 Aug, while revered MC and master of the bass-baritone flow, Chali 2na (Jurassic 5, Ozomatli) brings his solo tour to Edinburgh for a hip-hop masterclass on 11 Aug. Beach Bunny announce new headline show in Glasgow

Big Nights Out has announced a new wave of summer concerts at Queen’s Park Arena as part of its 2025 programming across two of Glasgow’s iconic outdoor bandstands. Over several nights in May, June and July, Glasgow will play host to a packed line up of world-renowned artists and local legends for a run of very special live outdoor performances at Kelvingrove Bandstand and Queen’s Park Arena this year.Today, new performances have been added to the line up at Queen’s Park Arena, including Leeds post-punk faves Yard Act (18 July), punk-jazz experimenter Geordie Greep (black midi - 19 July) and rambunctious London indie-punk collective Warmduscher (5 July). Michelle Zauner&#39;s cinematic indie rock project Japanese Breakfast has today released their fourth album, For Melancholy Brunettes (&amp; Sad Women) via Dead Oceans. The British punk and new wave pioneers The Godfathers are coming to Scotland in 2025!With their second album “Birth School Work Death”, The Godfathers laid the foundation for the punk and new wave sound of the 90s at the end of the 80s. A whole 35 years later, they are once playing songs from their probably most successful album on tour, accompanied of course by a mixture of classics and hits, as well as songs from their new album “Alpha Beta Gamma Delta”, which was released in 2022.The group around frontman and founder Peter Coyne is considered one of the most influential bands of their genre and also made big waves outside the UK, for example, bands like Die Ärzte are among their long-time fans. After a successful run, the band decided to pursue other projects for the time being around the turn of the millennium. Reformation followed in 2008 and their line-up has been strengthened to date by former members of Heavy Drapes and scene giants The Damned, among others. It’s probably the musically strongest line-up of the Godfathers since their formation in 1985, who after sold-out shows in the UK are now touring the rest of Europe and further cementing their legendary status in punk rock.The Primevals started in 1983; Michael Rooney had a record stall and had some friends who played in bands. They soon recorded their first single Where Are You? On the local Raucous label .New Rose Records in Paris, then released ‘Eternal Hotfire’ mini lp in 1984 and their relationship continued over the next three years releasing the albums ‘Soundhole’ and ‘Live a Little’. These records were produced by Richard Mazda who had also worked with the Scientists and the Fleshtones.The Primevals toured extensively in Europe over this period and played some great shows with the Cramps on their ‘Date with Elvis’ tour in 1986. Next was a live album ‘Neon Oven’ recorded 1988 in Paris. .Over this period The Primevals recorded 5 sessions for BBC Radio 1 including a John Peel session which was released on 12” single they also recorded tribute covers for various compilation releases dedicated to Captain Beefheart, Suicide and The Byrds.The fifth album called ‘Dig’ and released in 1990. The band worked with Jack Endino on this who had worked with Mudhoney and Nirvana.. The band toured extensively in Germany soon after and then ceased to play live between 1992-1996. Each member spent the time on other musical endeavours.The Primevals began playing under their name again occasionally and in 2005 a 2cd compilation of New Rose material plus 4 unreleased songs entitled ‘On the Red Eye’ was released. New recordings in 2007 came next on cd on their own Triple Wide imprint entitled ‘There Is No Other Life…And This Is It”.The Primevals released ‘Disinhibitor” 2010.and toured extensively again. They released the lp ‘Heavy War’ in 2012 on Beast Records and a split 45 from the Jeffrey Lee Pierce Sessions entitled ‘Girl It’s Me” the following year. In 2014 they released ‘Tales of Endless Bliss’ on Closer Records. In 2015 saw the the enhanced re-issues of ‘Eternal Hotfire’ and ‘Soundhole ‘on cd on LTM record label. The song ‘Spiritual’ was used in the Sky TV Series ’Tin Star’ (series 3) in 2020.In July 2017 The Primevals released on their own label ‘Dislocation’ on lp/cd and continued with shows in UK, France and Italy. An ep on ‘Ghost Highway Recordings’ from Madrid. Entitled ‘So Extra’ ep. Was released in July 2018 The lp ‘Second Nature’ was released in May 2020 on their own Triple Wide label. 12 track vinyl and 16 track cd.’New Trip’ on cd/lp on Triple Wide released July 2021 with some great reviews in Shindig and Vive le Rock.The Primevals released “The Dividing line’ released through Triple Wide/Ghost Highway Recordings/Heavy Medication Records early 2023.The Primevals released the 4 track ep ‘Killing My Buzz” in May 2024.A new single ‘I’m the Man-Wulf’ was released in 2025. Since the release of her debut single in 2019, Glaswegian artist Neev has built a reputation for discovering beauty in the small details. Her talent for storytelling and worldbuilding has earned her early support from the likes of BBC Radio 1’s Sian Eleri and BBC Radio 6 Music’s Tom Robinson, as well as a sync on BBC drama Waterloo Road. She also performed live and televised for the BBC Introducing x Celtic Connections Showcase at Saint Luke's in Glasgow in 2022. Neev released her debut album, Katherine, in 2023, a collection of intricate indie-folk songs that pack a lyrical punch, receiving four stars from the Daily Express.
