Alex G has announced a new show at Glasgow&#39;s legendary Barrowland Ballroom later this year. Pennsylvania&#39;s preeminent master of melodic nostalgia and indie rock experimentation Alex Giannascoli and his long-serving band of brothers return to the city on Mon 17 Nov for their biggest Scottish live show to date, swiftly following the announcement of long-awaited new album Headlights, due for release on 18 July. <a href="undefined">In the meantime, Alex has previewed the first track from his new album</a>, entitled Afterlife. ALEX G TO PLAY BARRAS IN NOVEMBER

Big Nights @ La Belle is a new month-long concert series taking place during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer, only at La Belle Angele. This exciting new collaboration between the popular Old Town venue and summer events series Big Nights Out will host a cavalcade of extraordinary performers across the whole month of August, from familiar names and party starters to your new favourite artist. Beloved Libertines co-founder and esteemed solo artist Peter Docherty will perform across two nights in support of his much-anticipated new album Felt Better Alive (12+13 Aug); Kristen Hersh brings her popular 90s alt-rock combo Throwing Muses back to the capital with their first album in five years, Moonlight Concessions (20 Aug); Multi- Grammy-Award-Winning US Blues artist Fantastic Negrito brings his explosive live show to the city on 19 Aug, while revered MC and master of the bass-baritone flow, Chali 2na (Jurassic 5, Ozomatli) brings his solo tour to Edinburgh for a hip-hop masterclass on 11 Aug. Beach Bunny announce new headline show in Glasgow

Big Nights Out has announced a new wave of summer concerts at Queen’s Park Arena as part of its 2025 programming across two of Glasgow’s iconic outdoor bandstands. Over several nights in May, June and July, Glasgow will play host to a packed line up of world-renowned artists and local legends for a run of very special live outdoor performances at Kelvingrove Bandstand and Queen’s Park Arena this year.Today, new performances have been added to the line up at Queen’s Park Arena, including Leeds post-punk faves Yard Act (18 July), punk-jazz experimenter Geordie Greep (black midi - 19 July) and rambunctious London indie-punk collective Warmduscher (5 July). Since 2018, Smag På Dig Selv has been pushing the boundaries of genre with their explosive fusion of acoustic techno, raw punk energy, and 90s-inspired dance music. With two saxophones, drums, and a poetic yet activist approach, the trio creates an intense and euphoric live experience. Their groundbreaking sound and fierce stage presence have earned them a reputation as one of Denmark’s most compelling live acts – culminating in a Danish Music Award for “New Live Act of the Year” in 2024. In April 2024 the band released their debut album 'SPDS' to critical acclaim. SPDS played to an audience of over 11,000 at Roskilde Festival in 2024, their concert at Store Vega sold out five months before the show and the trio is now ready to take the world by storm. In 2025 alone the trio has played SXSW, ESN, The Great Escape, SummerStage NYC, Athens Jazz Festival and many more shows around the world. In March 2026 SPDS is releasing their second album on the Danish record label Stunt.&nbsp;

NYC &amp; LA-based Iranian songwriter, producer, and vocalist Kris Esfandiari, also known as King Woman, released a striking full-length album called Celestial Blues, on July 30, 2021 via Relapse Records.Kris Esfandiari (NGHTCRWLR, Dalmatian, Miserable, Sugar High) founded King Woman in 2009 as a solo project which later gained the talents of drummer Joseph Raygoza. Now wiser and holding less animosity than King Woman’s previous sentiments on 2014 EP Doubt and highly-esteemed 2017 full length Created in The Image of Suffering, the fantasy world that once plagued Kris’ psyche is dancing in a new light on Celestial Blues. Feeling compelled to reshape the biblical archetypes that once bound her, Esfandiari has created a theatrical tale of rebellion, tragedy, and triumph — a metaphor for her own personal experiences over the years — Celestial Blues was born. Several years ago, Kris Esfandiari had the sudden urge to recount a near death experience she had as a child. This severe event was followed by a string of hysterical black out episodes. Esfandiari would wake with a feeling that she was being ripped from her body. Esfandiari’s words evolved into a poem called “Celestial Blues” which later became the title for King Woman’s long awaited full-length sophomore album. While uncovering the vision for her latest record, Esfandiari was reintroduced to John Milton’s Paradise Lost after a stranger gifted her an old copy at a party. As she became reacquainted with this epic poem, Esfandiari was transported back to her childhood. Esfandiari’s immigrant parents often held church at home, where she was exposed to exorcisms, spiritual warfare, and sermons about heaven and hell. Esfandiari sets a dramatic tone for the record with “Morning Star” echoing the primeval account of Lucifer’s fall from grace. Esfandiari smugly whispers: “you know it could have been you / so don’t you dare judge the things that I do” — the fallen archangel in deceitful persuasion. Esfandiari is accompanied by the beastly drumming of Joseph Raygoza and Peter Arendorf’s heavy-laden guitar — masterfully stirring the listener with every sparse, emotional pluck.King Woman once again, takes us to church with hardcore gospel, “Coil”. “Five wounds you rape me / but I resurrect” declares Esfandiari in unhinged jubilation. Esfandiari desperately begs to be absolved in the crazed offerings of “Psychic Wound”, ultimately regaining a powerful reflection of herself after a provocative yet tormenting dance with the Devil.Celestial Blues was recorded in December 2019 in Oakland, California with Grammy-nominated producer, Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Amenra, Oathbreaker, etc).In addition, King Woman teamed up with photographer Nedda Afsari, as well as designers Jamie Parkhurst and Collin Fletcher for visual packaging. Celestial Blues certainly feels like a play. Esfandiari changes costume and set with each distinct song, breathing new life into a magnificent, age-old tale. King Woman never ceases to transcend this mundane realm of afflictions only to plunge the listener back down into pandemonium. The curtain lifts, Esfandiari bows, making peace with her weighty past.

Getdown Services is Josh Law and Ben Sadler. They met at school in Minehead, Somerset and make music together at home in Bristol. Their debut album Crisps was released on November 9th 2023 via Breakfast Records. Since then, they've released two EPs - “Your Medal’s In The Post” and "Primordial Slot Machine" - two collections of demos - "Crumbs"and "Crumbs 2" - and a brand new single 'The Radiator".

La Belle Angele

ANDY IRVINE is one of the great Irish singers, his voice one of a handful of truly great ones that gets to the very soul of Ireland. He has been hailed as "a tradition in himself". Musician, singer, songwriter, Andy has maintained his individual performing skills throughout his over 60-year career. Andy has been at the helm of legendary bands like Sweeney’s Men in the mid 60s, to the enormous success of Planxty in the 70s, and then from Andy Irvine &amp; Paul Brady to Patrick Street, Mozaik, LAPD and Usher’s Island. Andy has been a world music pioneer and an icon for traditional music and musicians. His repertoire consists of Irish traditional songs, dexterous Balkan dance tunes and a compelling canon of his own self-penned songs with Irish bouzoukis, mandolas and harmonicas. As a soloist, Andy fills the role of the archetypal troubadour with a show and a travelling lifestyle that reflect his lifelong influence - Woody Guthrie. Andy received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the inaugural RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards in 2018 and he has been bestowed an honorary degree of doctor of Literature by University College Dublin in 2022.
