Alex G has announced a new show at Glasgow&#39;s legendary Barrowland Ballroom later this year. Big Nights @ La Belle is a new month-long concert series taking place during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer, only at La Belle Angele. This exciting new collaboration between the popular Old Town venue and summer events series Big Nights Out will host a cavalcade of extraordinary performers across the whole month of August, from familiar names and party starters to your new favourite artist. Beloved Libertines co-founder and esteemed solo artist Peter Docherty will perform across two nights in support of his much-anticipated new album Felt Better Alive (12+13 Aug); Kristen Hersh brings her popular 90s alt-rock combo Throwing Muses back to the capital with their first album in five years, Moonlight Concessions (20 Aug); Multi- Grammy-Award-Winning US Blues artist Fantastic Negrito brings his explosive live show to the city on 19 Aug, while revered MC and master of the bass-baritone flow, Chali 2na (Jurassic 5, Ozomatli) brings his solo tour to Edinburgh for a hip-hop masterclass on 11 Aug. Beach Bunny announce new headline show in Glasgow

Big Nights Out has announced a new wave of summer concerts at Queen’s Park Arena as part of its 2025 programming across two of Glasgow’s iconic outdoor bandstands. Over several nights in May, June and July, Glasgow will play host to a packed line up of world-renowned artists and local legends for a run of very special live outdoor performances at Kelvingrove Bandstand and Queen’s Park Arena this year.Today, new performances have been added to the line up at Queen’s Park Arena, including Leeds post-punk faves Yard Act (18 July), punk-jazz experimenter Geordie Greep (black midi - 19 July) and rambunctious London indie-punk collective Warmduscher (5 July). Milkweed describe their sound as slacker-trad, which is both true and&nbsp;somehow insufficient. For three years Milkweed have refined a formula –&nbsp;taking existing source material (a&nbsp; folklore journal, a book on Welsh&nbsp;myths, another on bronze age human remains and most recently Thomas&nbsp;Kinsella’s masterfully stark translation of the Táin Bó Cúailnge), cutting&nbsp;up the words and&nbsp; feeding them through a woodchipper of lo-fi production&nbsp;and experimental folk music.&nbsp;&nbsp; On the face of it their musical concerns are transatlantic – they follow&nbsp;the rich creative line that runs between British traditional music and the&nbsp;songs and tunes of the eastern United States. In reality their scope is&nbsp;global, and rooted in deep time, with influences from prehistory bleeding&nbsp;into a troubled and troubling modern era. As a result their music doesn’t&nbsp;sit easily anywhere, but ricochets between bewitching folk music and&nbsp;disconcerting hauntological experimentation.

the FOLK DRAMA are Edinburgh songwriter Aaron Wright &amp; Los Angeles songstress Violeta who swapped Palm trees for stone tenements, and never once complained about the light. They met in a Glasgow pub two days before lock down, quickly discovered a shared love of The Beach Boys, Arthur Lee &amp; Pavement and formed the FOLK DRAMA. Lockdown hit and they moved into a flat together in the west end of Glasgow where songs were written and demoed on an IPhone. Parker Millsap quickly made a name for himself with his captivating live performances, soulful sound, and character-driven narratives. He’s had a string of successes including an appearance on CONAN, a performance with Elton John at the Apple Music Festival, an Austin City Limits taping &amp; an Americana Music Association nomination for Album of the Year. He's shared the stage with folks like Jason Isbell, Shovels &amp; Rope, Patty Griffin, Houndmouth, and many others. Parker’s early releases showcased a mastery of acoustic folk rock, with their flourish for revelation and fiery dynamics. Be Here Instead, Millsap’s 2021 release produced by John Agnello, hinted at the wildness to come while exploring newer, more personal songwriting styles. Parker's newest album, Wilderness Within You, is a natural step in Parker's evolution which interweaves threads of his musical past and newer influences to gorgeous effect.

Born where the dust bowl never died, the West-Texas raised trio that is Shallowater – Blake Skipper (guitar/vocals), Tristan Kelly (bass) and Ryan Faulkenberry (drums) – combine slowcore, post-hardcore, country, and Americana elements that defy genre labels. Quickly establishing themselves as ones to watch in the alt-country/slowcore scene, the power trio’s self-described “raw West Texas dirtgaze” has positioned the band as an evocative and distinctive force amongst current alternative genre-blending projects. The band put out their sophomore record God's Gonna Give You a Million Dollars in September 2025, garnering support from Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, Alt Press, Beats per Minute, Fantano and more. Produced by Alex Farrar (MJ Lenderman, Wednesday, Indigo de Souza), the record walks the line of country and slowcore, swallowed up with heavy, distorted instrumentals and soft, dynamic reprises - and even a feature from fellow West Texas musician Hayden Pedigo. Despite being a relatively newer band, the trio has garnered significant opportunities including playing mainstage at Austin City Limits in 2025 and is gearing up for their second major festival, End of the Road, in September 2026.&nbsp; Shallowater has supported Horse Jumper of Love, Dutch Interior, Hayden Pedigo, Teethe, Flooding, World's Worst, The Raveonettes and more.&nbsp;

Spawning from Los Angeles, Faetooth forges “fairy-doom”: an eclectic amalgamation of doom metal, sludge, and shoegaze. From spellbinding melodies to guttural shrieks, Faetooth’s music conjures a looming atmosphere offering you a glimpse into their mystifying realm. Having recently released the ferociously beautiful track “Death of Day,” sound, Faetooth returns with their sophomore album, Labyrinthine.&nbsp; Labyrinthine is a visceral, haunting, disturbing vision filled with introspection. Enter through the “Iron Gate” — the garden, the light, the void, the body. This is exemplified by their new track, “White Noise,” out today. &amp;quot;White Noise&amp;quot; emerged from a diary entry, and is a relentless and intense reflection on inner turmoil. We’re often drawn to the familiar, even when we don’t realize we’re reaching out for it. It is an emotional upheaval, carrying harsh truths that weigh heavily on the heart.
