Alex G has announced a new show at Glasgow&#39;s legendary Barrowland Ballroom later this year. Big Nights @ La Belle is a new month-long concert series taking place during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer, only at La Belle Angele. This exciting new collaboration between the popular Old Town venue and summer events series Big Nights Out will host a cavalcade of extraordinary performers across the whole month of August, from familiar names and party starters to your new favourite artist. Beloved Libertines co-founder and esteemed solo artist Peter Docherty will perform across two nights in support of his much-anticipated new album Felt Better Alive (12+13 Aug); Kristen Hersh brings her popular 90s alt-rock combo Throwing Muses back to the capital with their first album in five years, Moonlight Concessions (20 Aug); Multi- Grammy-Award-Winning US Blues artist Fantastic Negrito brings his explosive live show to the city on 19 Aug, while revered MC and master of the bass-baritone flow, Chali 2na (Jurassic 5, Ozomatli) brings his solo tour to Edinburgh for a hip-hop masterclass on 11 Aug. Beach Bunny announce new headline show in Glasgow

Big Nights Out has announced a new wave of summer concerts at Queen’s Park Arena as part of its 2025 programming across two of Glasgow’s iconic outdoor bandstands. Over several nights in May, June and July, Glasgow will play host to a packed line up of world-renowned artists and local legends for a run of very special live outdoor performances at Kelvingrove Bandstand and Queen’s Park Arena this year.Today, new performances have been added to the line up at Queen’s Park Arena, including Leeds post-punk faves Yard Act (18 July), punk-jazz experimenter Geordie Greep (black midi - 19 July) and rambunctious London indie-punk collective Warmduscher (5 July). Their impressive post-punk legacy stretches from 1980s BBC John Peel sessions, indie chart successes Radiant Boys EP, Grooving in Green, Snake Dance and Turn to the Sky (featured in the John Hughes movie, Some Kind of Wonderful), all the way to the 21st century reunion, headlining festivals across Europe &amp; the USA and storming Record Store Day 2021 and 2022 with sell-out double albums Big Soul Kiss and Made Glorious.&nbsp;Founder-members Rosie Garland (performer, poet and author) and Tom Ashton (guitarist, producer) are joined by Mat Thorpe (bassist and vocalist). The band has enjoyed rapturous receptions on UK / EU / USA tours, incl headline shows at legendary Wave Gotik Treffen (Germany), Levitation (Austin TX), A Murder of Crows (NYC), Southern Gothic (Athens GA), DarkMad (Madrid), Dark Malta, Deadinburgh &amp; Tomorrow’s Ghosts Festival (Whitby Goth Weekend, UK).

The Magic Lantern&nbsp;is the moniker of singer-songwriter and composer Jamie Doe, an artist blurring the boundaries between folk, jazz and contemporary music. Born in Australia before moving to the UK at 12, The Magic Lantern has released five full length albums and toured the UK, Europe and Australia alongside This Is The Kit, Sam Lee and Alabaster Deplume among others. His fifth album ’To Everything A Season’ was written and recorded in the months following his daughter's birth and his father's death six weeks later. In their brief meeting in a dementia nursing home, two ends of the circle of life touched. Of that cathartic moment, Jamie says 'I saw myself in my father, and my daughter in me and I felt joy and grief in overlapping waves, beautiful and complicated, which continue to ripple outward'. These songs are my attempt to make sense of this incredible time' Performing an intimate solo set, The Magic Lantern's live show captures a rare emotional immediacy through Jamie’s arresting vocal lyricism and piercing lyrics, crafting songs that examine the limitless depth of the human experience with devastating, joyous results.&nbsp; *Jo Mango*Glasgow songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jo Mango has quietly formed a part of a number of internationally notable musical moments over the past two decades. From joining David Byrne on stage at the Carnegie Hall when his&nbsp;Welcome To Dreamland&nbsp;show brought the progenitors of alt-folk movement to the US's most famous concert hall, to being a key part of the house band for the magical collaborative&nbsp;Zero Degrees of Separation&nbsp;tour, playing alongside Vashti Bunyan, Devendra Banhart, Vetiver, and Adem in some iconic venues.. And now she emerges into her own limelight with her soon to be released solo record (The Lightswitch) produced by composer/performer/producer Adem (The Ballad of Wallis Island, Philip Selway, Hot Chip), featuring the Elysian Collective on strings (Pulp, Fontaines DC) and Chris Vatalaro on drums (Brian Eno, Anohni, Sam Amidon). Jo's debut solo album Paperclips and Sand (2006) saw her perform live on taste-making KCRW radio show&nbsp;Morning Becomes Eclectic, with shows at SXSW (USA), NXNE (Canada), live sessions on BBC Radio and Single of the Week on Radio 2. Across the following years, Mango toured extensively in North America and Japan, including appearances on countless legendary stages across the world, including: The Roundhouse (London) at the Electric Proms; The Sage (Gateshead) and the Barbican as part of the&nbsp;Zero Degrees of Separation tour; The Getty Museum (LA); and international festivals such as Bumbershoot (Seattle), Accelerator (Malmo/Stockholm/Goteborg), Greenman (Wales), Mosaic (Singapore), and Perth International Arts Festival (Perth, Australia). She has collaborated on performances with musicians such as Devendra Banhart, Coco Rosie, Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub), Roddy Woomble (Idlewild), William Tyler (Lambchop), Richmond Fontaine, and played on bills alongside artists as diverse as Bert Jansch, Donovan, Belle and Sebastian, Hot Chip, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Silver Jews and Jenny Lewis. During this time of touring and collaborating, she met Adem Ilhan, with whom she forged a lifelong musical synergy and this led to their co-creation of her critically acclaimed second album&nbsp;Murmuration&nbsp;(2012) featuring the voices of Scottish (alt)folk luminaries such as James Yorkston, Kris Drever and Pictish Trail.&nbsp;More recently, Jo has been involved in the award-winning gig-theatre piece&nbsp;A Giant on the Bridge&nbsp;(now touring), which she co-devised with director Liam Hurley and the Distant Voices Community to highlight issues in the UK criminal justice system. It premiered with a full run at the Edinburgh&nbsp;Festival Fringe 2024, winning much acclaim. The release of her 3rd solo album, after a long hiatus, is sure to herald a new era for the songwriter. One where her formidable talents - honed over decades of international cross-genre creative collaboration and study of the craft of songwriting - are finally brought to a deserved wider audience.
